Welcome
Ashbrook Infant and Nursery School is situated in Borrowash, Derby.
Children start in Junglies Nursery when they are three. We have five classes in school – 1 class for Reception children, 2 classes for children in Year 1 and 2 classes for children in Year 2. At the end of Year 2, most of our children move on to Ashbrook Junior School which is on the same site as our Infant and Nursery School.
We are a fully accessible and inclusive school. Read more about how we include children with Special Educational Needs or disabilities in the SEN Information Report here.
Our school is a happy, fun place, full of friendly people who work really hard to make sure that every child learns new things and makes good progress. Through our wider curriculum, we aim to ensure that children are fully prepared for life in modern Britain, and that they establish the building blocks for their future learning in Literacy and Numeracy. We work hard to ensure that our children learn how to get on with one another, how to listen and share their thoughts and ideas with others.
Look at our Class pages to find out what everyone is learning at the moment.
We have lots of extra activities at lunch-times and after school too. You can join our football club, FilmClub or Let’s Get Cooking Club after school. At lunchtimes we have our Recorder Club and Spanish lessons. We like to be busy all through the day!
Our uniform is royal blue or red sweatshirts, jumpers or cardigans, white polo shirts and grey skirts, dresses or trousers.
We are always happy to show people round our school – please get in touch if you would like to have a look round.
We have breakfast club, after-school club and holiday clubs based at school. We call these Ashbrook Tigers Clubs.
If you would like any more information, or would like to visit our school, please give us a call on 01332 662695 and speak to Angela Clarke or Helen Jackson.
If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
We are a single entry school with all admissions being completed online via the Derbyshire County Council website.
The standard admission number (PAN) is 50.
ADMISSION TO OUR SCHOOL
Parents have a legal right to express a preference for which school they want their child to attend. This is not the same as being able to choose, but means that if a parent expresses a preference for a particular school and there are places available then a place should be offered a place at the school.
However, in law there is no automatic right to place a child in any particular school and it may not be possible to offer a place at the preferred school.
To apply for a place at Ashbrook Infant and Nursery School you must apply through Derbyshire County Council. You may telephone them on 01629 537499, email them at admissions@derbyshire.gov.uk. or use the link at the bottom of this page.
If you do not live in Derbyshire, you must apply through the council covering the area in which you live.
